Overview
This was designed for my own wedding in October of 2023. While this isn't one of my professional projects, I wanted to include this because it was a lot of fun to work on. This was the opposite of the type of projects I tend to work on at both (systems, dashboards, etc) so this really gave me the rare opportunity to flex my creative and UI skills.
"Reinventing the wheel"
The vinyl record player component was by far the most interesting part of this project. The original idea was to have a video background with some of our favorite music videos, but we decided to push the envelope and create an all new component; a bespoke spinning record player with an automatic needle arm. I designed and created the component with 100% SVG files (including the needle arm itself). All SVG layers work together (some rotating and some stationary) to provide a convincing lifelike record player experience.
Responsiveness was key
A website design with this many moving parts and overlapping graphic assets needs very specific breakpoint designs in order to achieve full responsiveness. From the smallest phone to the largest desktop monitor, I wanted to make sure that it shined on every screen size and device.
Custom RSVP flow
Building our own site also gave us the flexibility of having a custom RSVP flow that fit our needs and the needs of our guests.
